let my people go!

Ok, so the title really has nothing to do with anything important today, but going over my records, I've noticed that I haven't written anything here for at least two weeks.
Two Weeks!! I could say that nothing has happened in those two weeks, but that would be untrue, or "not operative anymore", as Donald Rumsfeld would say.

So, what's new? I'll just give a short list of what I've been up to since I last checked in...

Castro Street fair:
Pretty cool. Not quite the Folsom St fair, not even like the Gay pride parade and fair. This was your typical neighborhood art/food/music...etc block party. Ok for (most) kids. We had a great brunch at 2223, on Market St.

Gary Danko Cooking Demonstration:
AT HIS PRIVATE HOME! Through Saveur magazine. There were about 16 of us, packed into his kitchen, where we watched Gary (or G-dog, as he lets me call him) prepare Lamb loin, roasted lobster, and various sauces for the entrees.
After that, we drove down the hill (he lives in Russian Hill) where we gathered at his restaurant for a full 5 course lunch (amouse bouche of oysters, lobster entree, lamb entree, cheese course, dessert) with wine pairings for all courses. Very nice.
I think this event calls for a longer, more detailed post...coming soon

Giants Game:
Oh, I might not have mentioned this earlier, but I'm a huge Giants fan.
A friend of mine has season tickets and we're able to to about 10-15 games each year.
Not much more to say about that...it wasn't the best year for the guys, but they did keep it interesting until the final week.

Work:
My employment at my current job is ending in a week (next friday) so that has been on my mind quite a bit lately. I'm very fortunate in that I don't need to find work immediately. A nice little severance package is nice, plus I'll mooch of the gov't for a few months, before I jump into the workforce again. I'll be playing househusband for a while...cleaning, cooking, organizing, etc...the wife is looking forward to it.

Fantasy Football:
I'm 1-3 so far, but my team is scoring a lot of points, so that helps. I'm giving up the highest amount of points and there's nothing I can do about that, so that doesn't help.

Vacation Planning
This is what I love to do. The wife and I are going to Oaxaca Mexico in two weeks (already!?!?!) for the Day of the Dead celebration. I plan on writing a nice account of our trip when we get back, so wait for that. There'll be links and everything!

I guess that's it for now. No deep thoughts, no witty pop-culture references, no political anger...just your typical diary that I know that you've been waiting with baited breath for.
